Third KDE4 development snapshot released

The 3rd development snapshot of KDE4 has been released and packaged for Kubuntu.

There seems to be a mistake in the /etc/apt/sources.list line they propose:

deb ./

Actually it should be

deb edgy main

as it gives a 404 Not Found error otherwise.

I do not plan to download 104MB on my slow connection this evening, but I’ll give it a try tomorrow. Good luck to you if you want to try it too!

I tried to install KDE by adding the line you provided by I still got an error:

W: GPG error: edgy Release: The following signatures couldn’t be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY A506E6D4DD4D5088
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

I got this error by running “sudo apt-get update”. Are you having the same problem or did you successfully installed KDE 4 “3.80.3”?

I suppose you are aware this is just a “preview” for developers. You shouldn’t expect much from it, unless you are somehow involved in the development of KDE4. So far it looks like a (terribly) broken KDE3.5 desktop.

You need to add the GPG key as described here:
    sudo apt-key add kubuntu-packages-jriddell-key.gpg
